Gold and Diamond members receive a $13 per person room charge credit. Solo travellers asking nicely can receive a $26 credit by having the room listed as double occupancy. (or just book for two)
Credit can be used at most on-property venues except Chill'm. Gratuities cannot be applied against this credit. You are not obliged to apply this credit against breakfast.
Breakfast buffet costs $26. A take-away breakfast is available at the food court for $13.
Resorts fees are NOT added to award stays using all points.

I just stayed a few days ago and as far as I remember the resort fee is still 29. I will need to double check my receipt tho!
Diamonds can still check-in at the VIP lounge. This is really the only tangible benefit of staying at this property. As previously stated by other posters the 13 bucks is useless for breakfast because it expires at 2am or something absurd like that.
Definitely planning to write a one star review on trip advisor and will also be email hhonors. I'll post when I receive a reply!

I was there 2 weeks ago and I was told that the resort fee is now $39. But they charged me just $29 because that was the fee when I booked the stay.

If the website says $29 I don't know how they could charge $39. Even if the website says $39 and their confirm says $29 they should still honor the $29 rate but if they aren't honoring the breakfast benefit mentioned in the site.....
Even $29 is absurd for this property but $39 is crazy. I would have been willing to have paid a $39 resort fee at the LV Hilton though. At least diamonds got free use of the spa and the buffet on weekends was the best Hilton breakfast I have ever had and diamonds got to use the VIP line at the buffet. Hotel was really dated but I miss it, cheap rate and great treatment for diamonds and repeat guests.

When this hotel is booked via Priceline NYOP (bidding), the hotel "resort" fee is capped at $25/day. If the hotel tries to collect more than the disclosed $25/night, dispute the charges.

Frankly, unless the price was right, there was probably numerous other options that may have worked better. I'll guess that Ianmanka saw the Trop was very close to the airport and on the Strip. For a one night late night stay, the Trop was probably a poor choice as the chances are high for a long wait at check in and a long walk to the hotel room. And even more so if the person had no desire to walk or do other activities along the Strip.
I did pick the Trop for the short distance to the airport, saving time/money when leaving it and returning the next morning. The line at check-in wasn't long, and my room was actually a fairly short walk. With each Vegas hotel, there are thousands of rooms, so I wasn't too concerned about being walked to another property either. I still haven't reconciled the bill yet, which I will do soon to figure out if I was properly credited the $26 F&B, but at first-glance, it seems like it was calculated correctly.

At check in the front desk associate automatically gave me without asking, even though I was the only guest registered to the room, two people's F/B credit and did something so that I could use it without the expiration problem. She explained that she was doing both of these things, and made it sound routine, not like a favor. I was perfectly happy to use both credits to fully cover my breakfast buffet. And I'm only Gold btw.

I've seen a lot of people (over the past ~8 months) mention the resort fee not being waived for Diamonds.
Are resort fees charged on award nights?
When booking via HIlton website via Points + Cash or Cash rate, the resort fee shows up on the total amount. But when it's changed to an award stay, it's no longer there. Just want to verify/see if anyone has stayed there on an award night and have/have not been charged a resort fee.

I have stayed there several times the last year. I have Never been able to have the resort fee waived on a regular stay. On a reward stay it was NO resort fee.

My partner and I stayed at the Tropicana for two nights last week (i.e, mid-April). The resort fee was $29, as quoted in the reservation, and the food credit of $13 per person per night was explained at check-in (without prompting) and credited at check-out, again without prompting. We used it for Starbucks and the food court; the fact that Starbucks is open 24 hours is definitely a plus.
There was a snafu with the room rate as it somehow increased during my stay, but the agent apologized and fixed it at check-out (although her typing resembled the furious typing of airline agents).
Overall, it was a perfectly adequate stay, and the Hilton benefits were delivered just as expected.

The Tropicana definately doesn't do customer service. I stayed there for 1 night, had to wait ages to check in as although there were 2 checkin agents 1 was extremely slow (asking extremely basic questions eg what is your name again 5 or 6 times with a long gap between while talking to their collegue - I now have that guests name memorised), while the other decided after I was called up to the desk that they didn't have time to check me in before they were due to go on break.
The following morning the shower was only producing cold water, tried calling front desk with no response, as I needed to get to the airport decided to just have a cold shower. On check out when they asked if I had had a good stay I said that there had been no hot water for my shower. Their rezponse was obviously I didn't know how to use a tap.
Fair to say not impressed and is one of the few hotels that I would not be willing to stay at again. Don't get me started on the joke of a resort fee.

No hot water the morning of my stay either. Checkout response: "I think it's working now."

What is a bit surprising is that folks are continually a bit surprised at this craptacular hotel.
Since, as a diamond, it's clear that they are waiting for somebody better than me to show, I tend to make a safety reservation and wait for something better. Stayed at Mandalay Bay last weekend and when a within $20 rate materialized the Trop got thrown under the bus: life's too short.
